What is an IFSC code?

The Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an 11-character code that identifies a bank branch for NEFT, RTGS and IMPS transfers. The first 4 letters are the bank code, the fifth character is always 0, and the last 6 identify the branch.

What is a MICR code?

MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) is a 9-digit code printed on cheques. The first 3 digits identify the city, the next 3 the bank and the last 3 the branch. It is used for cheque clearing.

Where can I find my IFSC code?

It is printed on your cheque leaf and passbook, and shown in your bank's mobile app and net banking. You can also search by bank, state and district here.

Is this branch data official?

The data comes from RBI's published list of bank branches, compiled in Razorpay's open IFSC dataset (v2.0.62, updated September 2026). The IFSC search also checks the live dataset. Branches do merge or move, so confirm with the beneficiary before sending a large amount.
